PURPOSE:To obtain a high concn. aq. soln. of alkali metal hydroxides and high purity halogen gases with high current efficiency by supplying a high concn. aq. soln. of alkali metal halides and the same soln. in concn. where current efficiency shows the maximum value into the anode and intermediate chambers of a diaphragm method three-chamber cell, respectively and carrying out electrolysis.
