1512575 Vehicle supports CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 22 Aug 1975 [13 Dec 1974] 35010/75 Heading B7J The invention relates to a means and a method facilitating the servicing of a vehicle 10 and its loading onto a transportation vehicle platform 82 by utilising vehicle mounted lifting means 24, 34 normally used for operating vehicle implements e.g. a bull-dozer 12 and a ripper 32 which implements are removed and the lifting means connected to supporting means in the form of generally horizontal beams 36, 56 and support means 78. The invention comprises in its broadest aspect the combination of a chassis 16 of a vehicle 10 and a support arrangement consisting of first extendable and retractable means 24 mounted on the chassis at one (front) end thereof, a first generally horizontally disposed beam 36 openly associated with the first means 24 and movable relative to the chassis upon extension and retraction of the first means 24; second extendable and retractable means 34 mounted on the chassis at the other (rear) end thereof; a second generally horizontally disposed beam 56 operably associated with the second means 34 and movable relative to the chassis upon extension and retraction of the second means 34; and support means 78 positioned under the first and second beams 36, 56 whereby the first and second means 24, 34 can raise or lower the chassis 16 from the ground or onto the ground, to facilitate its loading onto a transporting vehicle platform 82 or its servicing. The beams 36, 56 are connected at each side of the vehicle 10 by chassis 70 to limit the movement of the beams away from the chassis 16. The invention permits of the removal of the endless tracks 72 and heavy roller frames 18 for the tracks 72 from the chassis 16. This is effected by disconnecting the tracks 72 and laying them on the ground forwardly or rearwardly of the vehicle. The chassis is then lifted and supported to free the roller frames 18 from the tracks which are pulled from under the chassis and frames 18. The chassis is then lowered so that the frames 18 contact the ground whereafter they can be disconnected so that when the chassis is again lifted and supported the roller frames can be pulled from under the chassis. Thereafter the chassis 16 can be lowered on to blocks 84 on the platform 82 of the transportation vehicle. The support arrangement beams are then disconnected for carriage on the transportation vehicle.
