This tooth form gives an optimum angle with respect to the fibres during withdrawal from the fibres. The roller 18 is formed from toothed discs with spacer washers or integral thickened bosses. A keyway 37 on the shaft 13 engages a key which locates in alternative slots 38, 38' in the toothed disc. One slot 38 aligns with a tooth while 38' is displaced by a half pitch, this allows the teeth to be staggered. Several key slots may be provided at fractional pitch displacements. The discs are retained by a nut on a threaded portion of shaft 13. The roller may alternatively be formed from the solid by any suitable method of manufacture.</p> |
