<p>1445605 Polyphenylene ether/styrene polymer/glass fibre compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 9 Oct 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 47029/73 Headings C3P and C3R A thermoplastic composition comprises glass fibres or filaments and a mixture of (a) 1-99 parts by wt. of a polyphenylene ether of formula in which Q, Q<SP>1</SP> and Q<SP>11</SP> which may be the same or different, each represents H, halogen, hydrocarbon, halohydrocarbon having at least two carbon atoms between the halogen atom and the phenol nucleus, hydrocarbonoxy, or halohydrocarbonoxy having at least two carbon atoms between the halogen atom and the phenol nucleus; with the proviso that Q cannot be halogen, and that Q, Q<SP>1</SP> and Q<SP>11</SP> are all free of a tertiary alpha carbon atom; and wherein n is a whole number of at least 50; and (2) correspondingly 99-1 parts by wt. of a crystalline styrene polymer (i.e. a styrene polymer which may contain 0À1 to 15 mole per cent of one or more comonomers, and which contains no rubber component). In the examples polystyrene and poly - (2,6 - dimethyl - 1,4 - phenylene)ether, are used. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,268,834.</p> |
