In order to prefabricate wall parts, the rows of blocks are first of all lined up on conveyor belts, the blocks of a block row being spaced apart by the width of a joint, by means of two photoelectric barriers (4, 4a), when transferred from a first belt (1) to a second belt (2). The belts (1, 2) are stopped by a contact switch (10) when a joint is located beneath the mortar-applying apparatus (6) which is set in motion by a photoelectric barrier (8). After filling the mortar pockets (11), the belts (1, 2) are set in motion again, at least one strip of mortar being applied continuously on the bed joint of the row of blocks, by means of the mortar-applying apparatus (6). The mortar-applying apparatus (6) comprises a mortar container (5) in which two conveying screws (7), acting vertically downwards, are installed at the same spacing as that between the mortar pockets (11). <IMAGE>
