<p>The gauging mechanism for checking the dia. of cylindrical containers consists of a pair of feeler arms (1) between which the object passes on a conveyor system. Each arm is attached to a spindle (2). Each spindle carries a pulley wheel (3, 6). A belt connects the two . One of the spindles is extended and carries a slotted coded disc (4), the edge of which passes between two sets of photodetectors (16, 17) set at some distance apart and supported on a plate (15) attached to the pulley wheel which is free to rotate in bearings on the spindle. A further detector (23) determines the movement of an arm (12) whose inner end is held between felt washers clamped between the coding disc and support disc.</p> |
