The packages (10) are suspended from supports, particularly bars (23) as they are transported, and inserted by them in the boxes (20). Two or more packages can be suspended from the same bar, which can be in the form of a bent arm protruding from one side of a moving holder (24). There can be several transverse bars on a single holder, and the packages can threaded onto and stripped off the bars by relative movement in the travel direction.
