The purpose of the design is to counteract the uneven torsional forces occurring on single piece jaws due to variations in sizes and hardnesses of pieces to be crushed. The swinging crusher plate consists of several wall segments fitted side by side and hinged at the top on a common axle in an individually movable manner. Alternatively, each segment can be fitted to a separate axle, which, in turn has its own individual seating on the crusher housing. In each case the secondary aim of the design is to cut the time necessary for maintenance and repair work on the segments.
