[Also in Division C3] Compounds of general formula where R is C 1-10 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is -CH 2 - or -C 2 H 4 -, R<SP>2</SP> is alkylene or and R<SP>3</SP> is -H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aryl, are prepared by reacting a dialkyltin oxide, hydroxide or dihalide with a mercapto-acid monoester of a diol or alkoxy- or acyloxy-substituted alcohol or by reacting a dialkyl tin dihalide with a sodium salt of such a monoester. The mercapto-acid may be thioglycollic acid or #-mercaptopropionic acid and the diol or alcohol may be ethylene-, diethylene-, triethylene-, propylene-, dipropylene - or 1,4 - butyleneglycol, 2 - methoxyethanol or 2-acetoxyethanol. The compounds are used for stabilizing vinyl halide resins. |
