Improving dyestuff solubility - by addn. of alkylene oxide adducts of benzene sulphonamide derivs.

Material for improving solubility of dyes, contains an adduct of 1-50 mols. alkylene oxide on a benzene sulphonamide deriv. of formula (I): (in which R1 and R2 are h, halogen, lower alkyl or alkoxy, or halolower-alkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, cyclo-alkyl, aryl or aralkyl). Used for prepn. of conc. aq. solns. of acid, direct or cationic dyes e.g. for use in continuous dyeing and printing of textiles. Solubility of the dye and stability of conc. solns. are both improved. The additives have little or no smell.
