The test method for electricity power consumption meters operating with static electronic circuits and segmental alpha-numeric displays. A test cycle provides for the drive in sequence of each segment separately; current and voltage comparators determine whether the segment current is within predetermined limits and the segment voltage outside predetermined limits and record a fault condition if either of the conditions is not satisfied.
