Washing and spin drying machine is provided with a washing motor and spin drying motor connectible to the washing drum, whereby the spin drying drive transmission includes an endlessly variable gearbox whose speed is varied in accordance with a programme by a setting device. Speed of spin drying can be varied and drum is passed through resonance speeds at controlled rates.
