Carburettor for IC engine - has pneumatic cold start components limiting opening of main throttle during starting

The carburettor has a main throttle (5) downstream of the fuel inlet (3) and an auxiliary throttle (115) upstream of it. The auxiliary throttle is moved by a bimetallic coil (120) and a membrane (128) acted on by the suction in the manifold. A cold start channel (7) opens near the main throttle. The movement of the main throttle is limited by the plunger (70) of a solenoid (71) which is energised by the ignition circuit and de-energised by a pneumatic switch (74). This limits the movement during starting and frees it when the engine reaches normal speed. A rod (57) moved by a pneumatic actuator (20) adjusts the main throttle to keep the engine speed constant. The actuator is operated by the suction pressure and atmospheric pressure.
