1500195 Treating fibres with liquid ammonia O P I CRYOCHIMIE 28 Jan 1975 [4 Feb 1974] 3557/75 Headings D1B and DIP Natural polyamide fibres having an orthocortex and a para-cortex e.g. wool are treated with liquid ammonia containing approx. 5% by weight of a nucleophilic substance. The substance may be added in the form of an acid or a liquid ammonia-soluble salt thereof, e.g. ammonium acetate, sulphate, chloride or nitrate. The treatment improves the bulkiness, elasticity and dye affinity of the fibres. In the examples, wool fabrics having been subjected to the treatment of the invention are dyed in a bath containing 1% of a dye of formula: 10% sodium sulphate and acidified to pH 5.5 with acetic acid. |
