1500471 Cutting-out apparatus F L SMITHE MACHINE CO Inc 25 Feb 1976 [3 March 1975] 07488/76 Heading B4B An apparatus for cutting and removing window panels from a web of material 18, e.g. in making window envelopes comprises a rotatable panel cutter roll 10 provided with a cutter 12 for co-operation with an anvil roll 16, conveying means 38, 40 for moving the material between the cutter and anvil rolls so that a panel is cut from the material, a source of negative pressure 30 such that the cut panels are removed from the web of material and deposited into a panel receiving means 24. The panel receiving means is in the form of a hood connected to a source of negative pressure, e.g. a suction fan; alternatively, the source of negative pressure may be produced by a venturi device Fig. 2 (not shown). The web is drawn over a roll 20 and any remaining, partially attached, panels are removed by a knife blade 32. A means 34, 36 for producing a blast of air in order to eject the panels may be provided. In a modification the anvil roller may be replaced by a stationary cylinder or knife blade. |
