Circlip with annular hole - has outer groove mounted on pin, and ring part pressing into inner groove

The circlip (8) has an annular hole for clipping into an inner groove (6) which has a sloping side (7) or for turning into the inner hole (2) in a ring-part (1). An outer groove (9) with radial clearance is mounted on a pin (3), especially for axially securing a serrated connection (4,5) between the ring part and pin. When unstressed, the pin's outer surface is axially non-round; the ring's (8) cross-section is even. When the ring is unstressed, the local outer radius (Rg) is largest radially opposite the annular hole; the local outer radii (Re) are smaller nest to the annular hole. Unmounted, the ring presses into the inner groove (6), with radial stress. ADVANTAGE - The ring, when mounted, presses against the sloping ends of the ring-part's cogging, and, when dismantled becomes round, so preventing the ring ends from hooking together.
