<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently input pointing data and voice data by providing this pointing device with a means for deciding a voice data input or a pointing data input in accordance with the state of the pointing device. CONSTITUTION:A microphone 4 for inputting voice data and a distance sensor 5 for detecting whether a mouse 1 having the same function as a conventional method is lifted or not are disposed on the bottom of the mouser 1. The sensor 5 measures a distance between the bottom of the mouse 1 and the surface of a desk mounting the mouse 1 and compares the measured value with a set value set up in the lifted state of the mouse. When the measured value is larger than the set value, a data input function is switched to voice data input and voice data are inputted from the microphone 4. Namely, pointing data indicated by the mouse 1 are fixed on a position obtained at the switching time and the function of an operation button 2 is switched to an ON/OFF switch for voice input. Thereby voice data can be inputted while depressing the button 2.</p> |
