<p>Reactor for cracking hydrocarbons with a hot gas, particularly a reactor capable of treating a range of feedstocks, e. g. naphtha and crude, comprising, (a) a circular, convex lens-shaped, hollow body (A) consisting of two walls joined along their periphery and having a central opening on >=1 wall; (b) >=1 hollow feed chamber open at both ends, one of these being joined to the body (A) in such a way as to enter at the joint zone and provide a flow of vapour tangential to the joint line at a flow rate sufficient for this to a vortex stream in the body (A) (c) >=1 tube open at both ends, one of these being connected to the body (A) at the level of and concentric with the central opening and communicating freely with the interior of (A); (d) overall dimensions such that the ratio of the length (b) of (A) along its polar axis to its equatorial dia. (a) is 0.05:1-1:1, the ratio of the equivalent (hydraulic) dia. of (c) of the central opening to the equivalent diameter (c) of the tube is 1-0.1:1, the ratio of the length (d) of the tube to its equivalent dia (c) is 5-200-1 and the ratio of the volume of (A) to the volume of the tubs ie 0.01-5:1.</p> |
