<p>The gear box has four forward and one reverse gear. The input shaft carries the fourth speed pinion and the reverse gear pinion. The output shaft may be driven from the pinion through the intermediate gear which is mounted on the output shaft. This pinion is connected to the synchronising mechanism. This mechanism has a sleeve keyed into the shaft. A connecting bar carries the friction disc, which causes the pinions to run at the same speed before engaging. The reverse gear is engaged by moving the drive pinion along the spindle.</p> |
