<p>The boot (10) for cross country skiing has a hollowed out part (40) at the top of the back part (24) of the leg (18). This allows the leg of the skier to move backwards during walking. A rigid support plate (44) that is removable covers the back of the leg for skiing. The lower part of the plate is shaped to fit into a fixed metal strap (48) on the bottom of the leg. The upper part is held in place by a loop of strong wire (54) which passes through slots in the plate and is hooked over hooks (56, 58) on each side of the leg.</p> |
