Cyanuric acid (I) is made by reacting urea and/or biuret dissolved in an org. solvent at elevated temps. in a reaction zone under stripping conditions using the effluent gas from the reaction zone as stripping gas. Avoids necessity of recovering ammonia from dilute gas mixts. obtd. as reactor effluent as is prior art processes such as that described in NL 6910466. Process can be operated as a closed cycle which reduces operating costs.
