1528971 Electrical connector AMP Inc 15 July 1976 [2 Aug 1975] 32385/75 Heading H2E A connector comprises male and female terminals which on mating strip the insulation from an insulated conductor placed between them and wedge the stripped conductor between the mated terminals to make an electrical connection. In an embodiment a plurality of male terminals 85 are located in channels in housing 83. The terminal has a tab 92 for locating in the female terminal 86 and a mouth 94 for initially holding the insulated conductor. The terminal further has spring arms 91 to receive a contact, latching detents 90, feet 88 for locating the terminal in the channel and shoulders 89 to abut shoulders in the housing (65, Fig. 2, not shown). A plurality of female terminals 86 are located in housing 84 and have rolled arms 98 to receive the tab 92, and a latching detent 103. On mating (Fig. 3) ribs 78 run in channels 79 and the tab 92 of the male terminal 85 together with the web 97 of the femal terminal strip the insulation from the conductor, the stripped conductor being wedged between groove 95 and web 97. The stripped insulation is retained in a cavity 125. A modification of the male and female connectors is disclosed (Fig. 4, not shown). |
