1486680 Photometric analysis DAMON CORP 6 Dec 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 52772/74 Heading G 1 A [Also in Division G2] In the photometric absorption analysis of sequential segmented liquid samples of a given minimum value separated by air bubbles, inaccuracies in measurement owing to carry over materials and wash liquids intermixed in the leading portion 64a of a sample are avoided by detecting when only the uncontaminated part of the sample is present in the test cuvette 36, and performing the absorption measurement on this. The sensor 60 located adjacent the inlet conduit 46 detects the passing trailing edge of the sample and either triggers a measurement on the flowing sample or causes valve 52 to close so that uncontaminated sample is held for measurement. Sensor 60 may be photo-electric but as shown is a conductivity sensor, which operates in association with a similar sensor 62 in the outlet conduit, to compensate for variations in the conductivity of the liquid. |
