Contact layer compsn. for colour reaction paper - contg. activated clay, polymeric binder and low-boiling aliphatic alcohol as vehicle

In a paper coating compsn. contg. activated clay and binder, for the contact layer of colour reaction papers, the binder is a polymer pref. polyvinyl acetate with a mol. wt. of 20000-40000 and a low-boiling aliphatic alcohol is used as vehicle. A small amt. of alkanolamine, esp. diethanolamine may be added. The compsn. can be used on normal printing machines and does not require special drying equipment. In an example a coating compsn. was prepd. from 30 (wt) % acid-activated clay, 8% polyvinyl acetate (mol. wt. 3000) 1% diethanolamine and 61% technical EtOH.
