A filter for infusion or transfusion appts. is mounted in a housing (5, 8) with liquid inlet (b) and outlet (12) with a spiral cavity (10) in the housing on the filter outlet side. The liquid outlet is located at the centre of the spiral. On the filter inlet side of the housing are one or more openings (26) covered by a liquid-impermeable gas-impermeable filter (30). The housing section (5) on the filter inlet side has a recess (25) near which are the openings (26) in the housing wall. In the recess is a support (28) with apertures (29) for the filter. Handling is facilitated and air entering the upper chamber can escape even in operation so that the filter is fully utilised.
