Regulated power supply source has basic voltage source with low-impedance internal resistance only in direction of current delivery. The output is connected in parallel to the series connection of a series resistor and a pre-load resistor which is designed as a transistor and controlled by means of a control circuit. The control circuit (ST) changes the vlue of the pre-load resistor (VR) as a function of a voltage such that the output voltage of the power supply source (VSQ) remains constant. The voltage is tapped via a measuring resistor which is connected in one of the output lines.
