The magnetic tape coating machine has the sheet (7) from which the tapes will be cut passing around a drive roller (6) under a container (13) holding the coating substance. An applicator lip distributes the substance onto the sheet as it travels towards a spreader bar (2). This is supported in a block (4) with a height adjusting screw (5) on top. The spreader bar (2) has an elastic rubber layer (3) around it and between this layer (3) and the sheet (7) is a foil. In another design, instead of a circular bar, two rectangular bars are used, which press down on a rubber sheet which in turn rests on the foil.
