A shrink bag (10) having an integral carrying handle is provided that includes an extended skirt portion (18) of the bag (10) of a heat shrinkable thermoplastic material and having a carrying hole (19) in the skirt portion (18) with an essentially continuous heat seal (20) around its margin, the carrying hole (19) having a configuration which helps to distribute stress and substantially eliminates tear propagation. The bag (10) is particularly adapted for packaging whole turkeys and the like and, to this end, the integral carrying handle is preferably located at the breast containing end of the bag (10).
