A multi-stage process is claimed for the catalytic reforming of hydrocarbon feedstocks, effected in a plurality of reaction zones through all of which the catalyst particles flow downwardly via gravity flow. Specifically, the feed is reacted, in the absence of added or recycle H2, in a first reaction zone (A) into which fresh or regenerated catalyst particles are introduced and from which deactivated catalyst particles are withdrawn for regeneration. The reaction effluent from zone (A) is then further reacted in multi-zone stacked reactor system into the uppermost zone of which fresh or regenerated catalyst is introduced and from the lowermost zone of which deactivated catalyst is withdrawn for regeneration. The prod. is covered from the effluent of this lowermost reaction zone. Used esp. in gasoline reforming. Compressure H2 recycle is eliminated and thus significant energy savings are obtd.
|
