A filament 22 is arranged in some of the grooves 24 to secure the member 20 to the discs 14. The fabric may be made of metal or thermoplastics material and it may be heat shrunk on to the discs. The discs 14 may comprise two bonded members, each member comprising an outer ring 14a connected to hub 14c by spokes 14b. The fabric and wire 22 may be clamped on end discs 12 by rings 26. In making the filter drum, apiece of fabric may be pleated and then wound around the discs, the overlapping end portions being bonded together. |
