<p>Method incorporates piping the prods. to a prodn. platform remote from the wells and making use of a single-footed tower form maintenance. The tower is articulated by a universal joint to a base anchored near the wells being serviced, at a pre-determined distance from them. It is equipped with appts. for controlling the well valves and carrying out all maintenance operations, but not prodn. operations, other than control of the prod. flow pipes. The wells can be serviced whatever the weather conditions, their flow or their distance from the prodn. platform. Remote control posts can be established, enabling the equipment to be serviced at the bottom of the sea, as wells as at the surface. Divers can be taken to the wells easily and safely.</p> |
