The apparatus has a feeding device (12) with a removal device (14) and a depositing mechanism (18') and a transfer and aligning wheel (24'). The removal device (14) is driven synchronously with the depositing mechanism (18') which, with each step, receives in its upper part a body, to be fed, in the longitudinal position. The removal device (14) has a circular plate (28) with cutouts (32) which are rotationally arranged on the inclined base (30) of the feeding device (12). The depositing mechanism (18') is arranged beneath the base (30) of the feeding device (12), coaxially to the circular plate (28), and has a number of chambers (22) corresponding to the cutouts (32) in the plate (28). In said chambers (22), the bodies are pivoted into a position which is perpendicular with respect to the base (30) and are then fed, via the synchronously running transfer and aligning wheel (24'), to the unit which will machine them further. <IMAGE>
