Package made from spirally wound strip material - uses rotatable prong to which one end of strip is applied under pressure

One end of the strip material to be wound is brought into contact with a rotatable prong with pressure being applied to the surface of the strip facing away from the surface of the prongin order to keep the strip in contact with the prong. The strip is guide around the prong for 90 degrees with the pressure on the strip being maintained in order to press the strip against the prong over the whole of the 90 degree path. The turning movement of the strip around the axis of the prong is continued whilst pressure is being maintained, until the strip is wound completely into a cylindrical shaped package.
