Universal joint with shifted axes has two identical wire rings capable of being connected to two converging shafts. Each portion has a head forming a practically complete wire ring and an intermediate torque transmitting ball portion having two annular grooves in two planes at right angles. Each groove receives a respective one of the wire rings. The bases of the grooves have axes at right angles to the respective planes and shifted from each other by a distance at least equal to the thickness of the wire so that they do not intersect. The heads in the grooves penetrate each other like a link and the ball portion has a central region surrounded by the bases of the grooves. Wall project from each side of the central region on each side of the bases in planes parallel to the planes of the grooves to form the sides of the grooves.
