Textile tow dyeing appts. has a vertical vessel in which is arranged a two support in the form of a rotary annular chamber which is driven positively or by the tow, the chamber which is open at the top is provided at the top with a dyeing liquor supply pipe which terminates in a distributing manifold. Chamber which rotates about a vertical axis is provided with outlet openings in the base. Pref. the annular chamber is driven by an electric motor and arranged for rotation on a ring. Also a number of manifolds may be arranged above the chamber and the manifolds may take the form of spray or weir means. Tow is supplied to the chamber by an injector and deposited on the perforated base of the chamber with the aid of a guide roller and J-guide tube. Level of the dyeing liquor is controlled by a device and a number of annular chambers may be located one above the other. Tow is subjected to intensive penetration by the liquor and appts. can be correspondingly reduced in size.
