Plate clamp for photogravure cylinder has a clamping spindle (42) has an elastic tongue (45) whose offset angle section accommodates a sealing strip (38) which effectively covers the gap which remains between the two neighbouring ends of the clamped plate. A further sealing strip is located between the rear of the offset angle section of the tongue (45) and the beak-like edge of the clamping spindle (41). In a design variation two spindles are provided (41, 42) arranged next to one another in the cylinder groove. The use of sealing strips prevents the ingress of printing ink into the plate cylinder. The strips are made of a foam, toluol resistant plastic material with enclosed pores.
