The smoothing appliance incorporates a broom unit which has two or more parallel spaced brush bars (2) extending across the line in which the broom is drawn (A), fixed to a common frame unit (5). The brush elements (4) on these are inclined to the rear and downwards relative to the drawing line. The brush bars can be thrust onto rectangular bars (3) and can be replaceable. Dust is steadily gathered and pushed in front of the inclined brushes instead of being pressed between them to reduce their elasticity.
