<p>The voltage regulator, for the heater plugs of an ic engine, controls the heating voltage according to speed and load and prevents the cooling of the plugs when the vehicle travels down hill from affecting normal running when the vehicle returns to the level. A relay connects a greatly increased supply voltage to the plugs when the excitation circuit is closed. Two switches are in series in the excitation circuit. One closes above a given speed and the other below a given quantity of injected fuel. This quantity roughly corresponds to the quantity consumed when free-wheeling.</p> |
