The amphibious flying machine using dynamic lift obtains most of this from two gas turbines in the bow section, connected by ducting to controllable intake/discharge openings distributed over the fuselage. Some lift is also obtained from three sets of stub wings of progressively reducing span on the fuselage centre plane, carrying propulsion units at their tips. For VTOL, additional lift is provided by three electrically driven rotors above the fuselage; when not in use these can be retracted. The wings carry horizontal control surfaces; in addition to the normal rudder there is one below the fuselage for when the machine is afloat.
|
