摘要 <p>Rotary viscometer has tumbling action of the rotor and the turning moment is measured to obtain the viscosity. The drive shaft is sealed by a flexible membrane. The turning motion from the drive is transmitted by >=1 magnetic coupling. Between the opposite poles of the coupling is at least one solid wall separation. A sepn. zone is created between the electrical components and the outer membrane. This zone may be largely fitted with liquor or with a pressurised gas such as air. The pressure of this is controlled to about that of the substance being checked. Used for viscosity measurements of liquids esp. corrosive or inflammable liquids. The use of membranes is known but if these do fail, the liquid is able to attack the electrics at once. Additionally inflammable liqs. are involved then an explosion may occur. The additional sealing wall ensures that neither of these things occur.</p>
