A laminate (consists of (a) >=1 substrate and (b) >=1 thermoplastic polymer; >=1 polymer is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and an alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid, contg. 50-96% (65-75%) acrylonitrile units. The laminate is used for packaing, e.g. food and drinks, paints and putty, medicines. Packaged goods are protected against O2 and against loss of CO2. The substrate may be a thermoplastic polymer, paper, wood or metal. Thermoplasts include polyolefins, PVC, aliphatic polyamides, polyacetals, polyesters, aromatic polycarbonates, aromatic polyethers, aromatic polyketones, aromatic polysulphones and cellulosic materials. The polymer may be a copolymer of acrylonitrile and an alkyl(meth)acrylate, or a graft copolymer of acrylonitrile and an alkyl (meth)acrylate onto an acrylonitrile-butadiene and/or -isoprene copolymer.
