The gun's compressed gas accumulator (7) is connected via a reduction valve (16) to a firing chamber (39), using a spring loaded piston (20) for pressure control as well as a detent (35) to prevent any pressure-induced fluctuation in the chamber from being transmitted during firing. The reduction valve can preferably be locked down so as not to work during firing. The free end of a shaft (48) keeps a firing valve (43) closed until operated by a trigger (57). The shaft also works with a lifter (71) which closes the firing valve after firing. The lifter and the detent (35) are joined via a linkage (36) to a loading slide (4) so that the detent is only freed when the firing valve is closed. When the slide opens, the lifter is actuated first and the detent only then released, the reduction valve being closed when the slide is closed. The accumulator is joined to the gun's housing (1) and contains another reduction valve (8) which opens automatically when the accumulator is placed on the housing.
