An Al-clad low C steel plate with a coating composed of a bearing metal is cut at an angle defined as alpha, the angle being a function of hardness and thickness of the plate, and not a function of coating thickness. The cut plate is then provided with flanges in known manner. The cladding consists of an Al foil and the bearing metal is an al-Sn alloy. Used for the production of bearings. Clad plate with bearing metal coating can be flanged without fracture by cutting the plates at an angle to the direction of rolling, and then forming the flange. |
