1498842 Copolyetherester compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 6 March 1975 [7 March 1974] 9415/75 Heading C3R A composition having a melting point of at least 100‹ C. comprising (1) 50-95% by weight of a copolyetherester having a melting point of at least 120‹ C. derived from (a) poly(tetramethyleneoxide)glycol of molecular weight 400 to 6000, (b) a dicarboxylic acid of molecular weight not greater than 300 and (c) a diol of molecular weight not greater than 250, units derived from (b) + (c) comprising 15-95% by weight of the copolyetherester, and (2) 5-50% by weight of either (i) a polyetherester derived from (a) + (b) or (ii) a copolyetherester derived from (a) + (b) + (c), component (2) having an inherent viscosity of more than 0À3 and having a melting point below 0‹ C. The composition may also contain an antioxidant, 4,4<SP>1</SP>-bis(α,α- dimethylbenzyl) diphenylamine being used in the examples. The examples describe compositions comprising (a) a copolyetherester derived from poly(tetramethyleneoxide)glycol, 1,4-butanediol and dimethyl terephthalate, optionally with dimethyl isophthalate or dimethyl phthalate and (2) a polyetherester derived from poly(tetramethyleneoxide)glycol and dimethyl terephthalate or a copolyetherester derived from poly(tetramethylene oxide)glycol, 1,4-butanediol and dimethyl phthalate or phthalic anhydride. |
