1498908 Sewing machines YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 22 Jan 1976 [28 Jan 1975] 02462/76 Heading D1G A sewing machine presser foot comprises a sole portion 11 having integrally formed therewith or attached thereto a guard 21 to prevent fingers or fabric from passing between the needle and foot, the top of the guard lying between the bottom of the needle eye and a position slightly below the needle point in the highest position of the needle, the presser foot having a needle aperture 13, 22 and at least the guard being formed of substantially transparent material. In Fig. 1 the whole foot is integrally moulded from transparent plastics or toughened glass. Suitable plastics are polycarbonate, acrylic resin and polystyrene. Alternatively only the guard may be transparent, the sole portion and mounting stem 17 being of opaque material, e.g. metal. The sole portion 11 may have two parallel guide channels for use in sewing on sliding clasp fasteners. |
