PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation system in which an incorrect guide screen or guide message is not outputted even if a vehicle intrudes into an area other than road and a correct guide screen or guide message is presented toward a goal after getting out of the area. SOLUTION: When an intrusion/escape detecting section 27 detects a vehicle intruding into an area other than the road registered in a map data base, e.g. a parking area, an image synthesizing section 26 makes a switching from a guide screen to a map screen and a map matching control section 20 stops the position correction through map matching. When the intrusion/escape detecting section 27 detects the vehicle escaped from the parking area, the map matching control section 20 resumes position correction through map matching and the image synthesizing section 26 makes a switching from a map screen to a guide screen. |
