PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of and a system for providing route information, which can display a definite route to a final travel destination from a position around the destination, that can be located by a vehicle side navigation device, at a low cost, and which can smoothly guide a route from the present position to the final travel destination, and can smoothly display a route. SOLUTION: A navigation control device 12 on a vehicle 10 transmits positional data concerning the present position and a destination to an information center 22 through a communication part 18. A data processing part 28 in the information center 22 computes proposal position around the destination computed by the navigation control device 12 in accordance with the positional data, and detailed proposal routes corresponding to the proposal position around the destination, are computed with the use of an internal data base 24 and an external data base 32. Thus computed data are transmitted back to the vehicle 10. The vehicle 10 selects a detailed proposal route among the detailed proposal routes, corresponding to the position around the destination computed by the navigation control device 12, and displays the same on a display unit 16 so as to exhibit the detailed route. |
