The average particle diameter of at least ¥ of the meerschaum may be ¢ the average value Œ30% of the thickness of the paper. Preferably the meerschaum results from granulating breccia-like porous meerschaum to a grain size of 0.1 to 5mm. diameter and utilising the finer waste. Examples describe the dispersal of meerschaum particles in cellulose pulp and its subsequent conversion into cigarette paper.
