A MEHTOD AND A FURNACE FOR PRODUCING NONABRASIVE COKE BRIQUETTES FROM LIGNITE BRIQUETTES

Abrasion-resistant formed coke is produced from brown coal briquettes which are preheated, dewatered or dried, carbonised and cooled in several (over three) stages. The gas in the hot gas circuits consists of the lean gas from the carbonisation operation, it circulates in each stage in a separate circuit, each with its own combustion chamber. This facilitates an adequate dedusting of the hot gases so that the condensation is not disturbed and clogging is eliminated. The coke mouldings retain their shape and are abrasion-resistant. An economical operation is ensured without mechanical partitions such as dampers.
