The sole block has projections on its upper surface corresponding to the desired relief of the sole, and slides between the half-rings like a piston in a cylinder. Immediately adjacent to its upper surface it has a peripheral groove for receiving a seal which is injected directly into the groove, for sealing between sole block and half-rings during moulding. At least one of the half-rings has >=1 channel for injection of the seal material, opening out at the level of the groove so as to lie opposite it when the sole blocks is in the mould closing position.
